Students have watched the trailers for each movie, plus the first 30 minutes of the "Kingdom of Heaven" movie, and the first 20 minutes of Braveheart to get an idea about the issues of Medieval Europe. These movies show the issues around the Crusades and the rights of the peasants in England/Scotland. It also provides a visual for students who have not travelled in the area.
This week we will be reading Chapter 5, p. 139 of the text to learn more about events taking place in Medieval Europe. Students will be learning about Knights, codes of ethics, and the issues in Medieval Europe.

- This week students are writing a series of poems to put into their anthology. Students should have twelve or more poems written about their theme or topics related to their theme by the end of this week.
- Students will pick the BEST from the twelve to put into their good copy.

a) We just finished discussing Sentence Types (Declarative - statement of facts (.), Interrogative - asking quesitons (?), Imperative - make commands or requests (. & !), Exlcamatory - express strong feeling (!).) QUICK QUIZ DONE!
b) Memory Stories - First piece of writing has been done. This week we are working on adding detail to the sentences to paint a picture or a visual for our imagination. Stories must be typed out with detail added by the end of this week.

- Students are on a mission to have complete global domination by the end of October. You can either chose to play against yourself or against other students. You name a country correctly they name a country correctly. You keep going, until someone is wrong. If wrong then the other person gets to take that turn plus get their own turn. Then continue until one player is unable to name an more countries. By the end of October you will do a final Global Domination Challenge to see how many countries you are able to name.
c)BEGIN WATCHING THE NEWS! WE WILL BE LOOKING AT CURRENT EVENTS (LOCAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL) - STUDENTS WILL BE PRESENTING THESE EVENTS OVER THE COURSE OF THE YEAR.

- Ten memories that have stuck in your mind (scars, trips, family events, skills you have learned, pets, sibblings, anything that has stuck in your mind) Please use one to two sentences to briefly describe.
- Theme: Is there a theme to your life (adventure, pain, learning skills, family, growth, ...)
- THE MAP - Using your Theme to design the background of the map. Moving across the page, have me journey through your memories in a creative and eye catching way.
